Edokpayi Recruitment
Michigan extended an offer to Edokpayi in October and hosted him for an official visit this weekend.
Edokpayi is the most important remaining 2024 defensive target for the Wolverines this cycle. U-M is in his top group along with Maryland, Minnesota and Rutgers.
Here is what Holland had to say about his recruitment.
“He has so much room to get up to that 260 (pound range) and I can definitely see him getting up to that,” Holland said. “He’s such an intriguing prospect with a really high ceiling. There are two things that can win over Edokpayi and his family. One is academics. Michigan is the best school (on his offer sheet) by far. The second thing is development.”
Edokpayi recorded 22 tackles, five sacks and five pass deflections in just six games as a senior this season. He also caught seven passes for 120 yards on the offensive side of the ball.
At 6-foot-7, 215 pounds, Edokpayi is ranked as the No. 19 EDGE and No. 182 overall prospect nationally, per On3. He is also ranked as the No. 3 overall recruit in the state of Maryland this cycle.
Edokpayi is expected to make his decision in coming days.
Michigan has 26 commits in its 2024 recruiting class, which entered the day ranked No. 4 in the Big Ten and No. 16 nationally, per the On3 Industry team recruiting rankings. The class is highlighted by Top 100 Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller running back Jordan Marshall, Top 100 Charlotte (N.C.) Providence Day quarterback Jadyn Davis and Top 100 Kansas City (Mo.) Rockhurst offensive tackle Andrew Sprague.
